End-of-Life and End-of-Support Dates

We are officially announcing the End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS) for ccScan.

  • EOL is the last date to purchase a new ccScan license: October 1, 2026.
  • EOS is the last date to purchase a renewal ccScan license and to receive full technical support for ccScan: March 1, 2027.

Running ccScan After End-of-Support

You may continue using ccScan after EOS, March 1, 2027. Note: after EOS ccScan may not function because:

  • No technical, operational security or provider updates will be released.
  • Technical support will be limited and eventually will no longer be available.
  • Operational and security risk may be increased, particularly as new vulnerabilities are discovered but no longer remediated by ccScan or a provider.

What this Means to You

You can activate new or renewal licenses through December 31, 2028. When a license expires after its 1-year activation, it can be renewed during the 21-day  grace period by pressing the ‘Renew’ button in ccScan Admin menu, Licensing dialog.  A new, unused license may similarly be activated by pressing ‘Add’.

ccScan Advanced for Google Drive

Scan to Google Drive with ccScan Advanced ccScan Advanced for Google Drive automates your archiving and digitizing tasks, accomplishing nearly hands-free scanning and unattended importing. ccScan Advanced features are based on sophisticated technologies such as barcode detection, OCR, and Text Pattern extraction with Regular Expressions and conditional rules.  You can easily import to google drive files that are paper-based or paperless, ccScan makes capture and storage fast, painless, and convenient.

Scan paper documents or import files directly to Google Drive. Save time with “set it and forget it” ccScan jobs that would normally take someone multiple steps to complete.

Instead of scanning to a local disk folder, naming all documents, creating a collection in Google Drive, manually uploading the documents to that Google Drive collection, and eventually setting relevant properties for those uploaded files – ccScan completes it all in a single step. Automatically create and name files and collections within Drive using field macros.

Separate multi-page documents automatically utilizing custom barcodes, or those included with ccScan. Construct a hierarchical folder storage scheme by using field macros or barcodes. Divide a scanned batch into individual documents which can then be directed to specific Google Drive collections. Use the built-in OCR Engine in Advanced to create custom collections or document names.

When you scan to Google Drive, you can access all settings that are available to third-party applications for document upload. There’s no need to access Google Drive collections through a Windows drive letter. When specifying or creating collections, ccScan supports your ability to indicate the document name, to convert documents to the Google Docs format, to add?? OCR documents (where searchable text is extracted from an image), and your action to take when a document already exists. In addition to all that, you can customize how to share individual documents and collections with colleagues and third parties.

ccScan utilizes the widely recognized and compatible PDF (Portable Document Format) parameters. Choose to save everyday documents for quick and easy retrieval using the standard PDF format. In order to guarantee future integrity and accessibility, use the archive quality PDF/A-1b format for long-term storage.

ccScan Advanced includes an OCR Engine to convert scanned images to PDF with searchable text, while keeping the original document appearance. An optional OCR Engine is available for ccScan Standard.

ccScan includes a powerful bulk import capability. Using wildcards (search specifications) to select document names and/or file extensions from a local folder, ccScan will methodically search for, identify, and export all applicable files to Drive. For example, you may select TIF or GIF files with the digit 7 in the second filename position by using a wildcard specification of ?7*.?if and enabling Bulk Folder Recursion.

ccScan will navigate all folders below the initial folder and export all files meeting your search specifications. Import any PDF, JPEG, TIF, PNG, BMP or DCX document types, in addition to any other e-doc accepted by Google Drive.

Truly turn-key, ccScan is ready-to-use with a set of default jobs once installation is complete. Conveniently customize tasks to process recurring scanning or import jobs with minimal clicks, thereby saving time and reducing the potential for input errors. On a per-job basis, decide which Drive collection, scanner, and import fields the user should enter, set those defaults, and provide details for fields not shown.

A password-protected setup mode is provided to permit administrators to manage creation and setup of all jobs within the network. The administrator’s functionality is extended to include the ability to monitor all users, block certain fields, and require certain values in specific fields. A daily audit trail is maintained in script-friendly JSON format to support fully automated post-processing of return values, such as the URL to shared documents. Total control is in your hands.

Nothing is more important than the security of your online profile and tasks. ccScan implements Google security protocols, but it avoids storing any Google usernames or passwords directly on your computer. Documents are safeguarded with Secure Hypertext Transfer over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) while transferring to and from the Cloud provider. All jobs are fully protected by password and powerful built-in .Net encryption. Authorization tokens used to access Google Drive are not maintained for security reasons.
